Your sample seven-night itinerary
A family holiday you’ll talk aboutfor years.

Days 1–4
Queenstown
Lakeside adventures
Settle into a spacious apartment or family-friendly hotel close to the lake and town centre, then fill the first few days with the Skyline Gondola and Luge, Shotover Jet, Arrowtown, the TSS Earnslaw and Walter Peak High Country Farm. Depending on the children’s ages, add ziplining, rafting, horse riding, Kiwi Park or even a bungy experience for older children.

Day 5
Milford Sound by air
The absolute highlight
Fly across the Southern Alps and Fiordland, land at Milford Sound and cruise beneath towering waterfalls and Mitre Peak before flying back to Queenstown. Choose a fly–cruise–fly experience or make it truly exceptional with a helicopter–cruise–helicopter journey and alpine landing. I’ll schedule it early enough to leave a weather buffer.

Days 6–7
Glenorchy
Your choice of adventure
Follow the spectacular lakeside road to Glenorchy for mountain scenery and a family adventure—perhaps a Dart River wilderness jet boat, horse ride, forest walk or Lord of the Rings locations tour. Keep the final day flexible for another adventure, a family favourite or time to simply enjoy Queenstown without rushing.
